SMA
The SMA threaded interface connectors are designed for higher frequency applications where maximum reliability and robustness is required.
This connector range is suitable for the standard ranges of flexible and semi rigid cables and is also available in PCB and panel mount versions.
The characteristic impedance of the SMA coaxial connector is 50 ohm.
Two ranges of the SMA connectors are available: The standard range is manufactured with brass housings and the special range is manufactured with stainless steel housings.
SMA coaxial connectors meet the specification of IEC 169-15 and MIL-C-39012. topElectrical characteristicsImpedance | 50 Ohm | Operating frequency Semi-rigid cable Flexible Cable | DC-18 GHz DC-12,4 GHz | VSWR-Value Straight connector semi-rigid cable Angle connector semi-rigid cable Straight connector flexible cable Angle connector flexible cable | 1,02 + 0,010 f (GHz) 1,04 + 0,015 f (GHz) 1,03 + 0,010 f (GHz) 1,05 + 0,030 f (GHz) | Withstand voltage (depending on cable type) Semi-rigid cable Flexible cable | ≥ 1000 V / 50 Hz ≥ 750 V / 50 Hz | Operating voltage (depending on cable type) Semi-rigid cable Flexible cable | ≤ 335 V / 50 Hz ≤ 250 V / 50 Hz | Insertion loss Straight connector semi-rigid cable Angle connector semi-rigid cable Straight connector flexible cable Angle connector flexible cable | 0,03 √ f (GHz) dB 0,05 √ f (GHz) dB 0,03 √ f (GHz) dB 0,07 √ f (GHz) dB | RF-leakage Straight and angle connector Semi-rigid cable Straight and angle connector Flexible cable | ≥ 100 dB-f (GHz) ≥ 100 dB-f (GHz) ≥ 60 dB-f (GHz) ≥ 60 dB-f (GHz) | Insulation resistance | ≥ 10 GOhm | Contact resistance Center contact Outer contact | ≤ 3 mOhm ≤ 2 mOhm | Current carrying capacity | ≤ 2 A DC | Admissible power (depends on: Frequency, Application, VSWR, Environmental specification Characteristics) | Data on request | Intermodulation parameters | Data on request | topMechanical characteristicsCoupling nut torque Recommended: Standard (Brass) Recommended: Special (Stainless steel) Max.: Standard (Brass) Max.: Special (Stainless steel) | 0,45 Nm (4 in.-lbs) 0,8 - 1,1 Nm (7 - 9,7 in.-lbs) 0,6 Nm (5,3 in.-lbs) 1,7 Nm (15 in.-lbs) | Retention force of coupling nut | > 270 N (60 lbs) | Mating cycles | > 500 | topEnvironmental specificationOperating temperature range | -55 °C (-67 °F) up to +125 °C (257 °F) | Test categories | DIN 40045 / IEC 55/125/56 | Relative humidity | MIL-STD-202 Method 106 | Thermal shock | MIL-STD-202 Method 107 Cond.B | Shock | MIL-STD-202 Method 213 Cond.I | Vibration | MIL-STD-202 Method 204 Cond.D | Corrosion | MIL-STD-202 Method 101 Cond.B | topMaterialsHousing / Coupling nut: Standard Housing / Coupling nut: Special | Brass Stainless Steel | Center contact | Brass | Spring loaded contacts | Copper beryllium Bronze | Spring washer | Bronze | Crimp ferrule | Copper Brass | Lock washer | Bronze | Insulator | PTFE | Gasket | Silicone rubber | All products are RoHS conform. | topPlatingHousing Standard | Au, White bronze | Stainless steel Special | passivated | Center contact | Au | Spring loaded contacts | Au | Crimp ferrule | Au, White bronze | Lock washer | Au, White bronze | Other platings on request. | topInterface dimensionsPlug |
